Privacy-friendly web analytics

Privacy-friendly web analytics that respects your visitors.

Privacy-friendly web analytics measures your traffic without collecting personal data or setting cookies. No cookies, no IP addresses stored, no profiles of individuals built over time. The result is the aggregate data you need, visitors, pageviews, sources, geography, with the privacy risk to your visitors close to zero. MetriXs is a privacy-focused, EU-hosted analytics tool with a free plan and paid plans from €6/month.

What makes analytics privacy-friendly

A privacy-friendly analytics tool minimises what it collects. Three properties make the difference:

Together, these mean the heavy GDPR obligations never trigger. There is no personal data to return in a subject access request, and no personal data to erase. Compliance is a property of the architecture, not a configuration you maintain on every page.

What makes analytics privacy-friendly

No cookies

Nothing is written to the visitor’s device. Visitor identification uses a server-side, daily-rotating hash, not a persistent cookie. This is what removes the consent-banner requirement.

No personal data stored

The raw IP is discarded after hashing, no identifiers are kept, and the hash resets daily so it cannot be stitched into a profile. There is no personal data to leak, sell, or breach.

No cross-site tracking

A privacy-friendly tool does not follow a person across sites or devices. It reports aggregate trends for your site only, not a user profile shared with an ad network.

Frequently asked questions

What is privacy-friendly web analytics?
Privacy-friendly web analytics measures your traffic without collecting personal data or setting cookies. It uses a short-lived, salted hash to identify visitors (not a persistent cookie), stores no IP addresses, and does not build profiles of individuals over time. You get the aggregate metrics you need while keeping the privacy risk to visitors close to zero.
Does privacy-friendly analytics need a consent banner?
No. A truly cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics tool sets no cookies and stores no personal data, so the ePrivacy consent requirement does not apply. You embed one script tag with no banner, no consent management platform, and no lost visitors.
Is privacy-friendly analytics GDPR compliant?
Yes, by design. No cookies, no IP addresses stored (only a daily-rotating hash), hosted in the EU, no data leaving Europe. The GDPR still applies, but with no personal data processed, the obligations are minimal and no consent banner is needed. MetriXs provides a signed DPA.
What is the difference between privacy-friendly and privacy-invasive analytics?
Privacy-invasive analytics (like default Google Analytics) sets cookies, stores identifiers, tracks individuals across sites and devices, and may use the data for ad attribution or modelling. Privacy-friendly analytics sets no cookies, stores no identifiers, and reports aggregate trends only. The difference is whether you can follow a person over time (you cannot, in a privacy-friendly tool).
Can privacy-friendly analytics still track conversions and revenue?
Yes. MetriXs tracks custom events and, for Shopify stores, revenue, conversion funnels, and top products, all without cookies. The storefront tracker is cookieless everywhere; checkout commerce events come through a Shopify web pixel (subject to Shopify's consent framework in EU/UK markets, a platform requirement that applies to all App Store pixels).
