Shopware analytics
Cookieless analytics for Shopware 6, the official plugin.
MetriXs for Shopware is the official analytics plugin from MetriXs. Upload it to your administration, connect it to your MetriXs account, and get visitors, pageviews, sources, geography, and devices in one clean dashboard. No cookies, no consent banner, GDPR compliant by design, hosted in the EU. Tracking is opt-in and off until you turn it on.
Why Shopware shops choose cookieless analytics
Shopware is the German shop system built around compliance-first thinking, and its merchants usually care about the same qualities in their analytics. A Google Analytics setup works against that: it sets cookies, so in the EU it needs valid consent before it may load: a banner, a consent manager, and a share of visitors who click "reject all" and never show up in your numbers.
MetriXs takes a different approach. It sets no cookies and stores no personal data or persistent identifiers, so no consent banner is required under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR cookie rules. Your customers browse without a pop-up, and your stats stay complete.
MetriXs and Shopware Analytics: different jobs
Shopware already ships a free analytics extension, and it is good at what it covers: sales, orders, payment methods and discounts, computed from your own order database. That is business reporting from inside the shop. What it does not give you is the traffic side. Its storefront metrics run on cookies, so visitors who reject the cookie banner never show up, and there are no reports for traffic sources, referrers, campaigns, devices or visitor geography at all.
MetriXs covers exactly that blind spot. It shows where your visitors come from (search, AI referrals like ChatGPT, newsletters, campaigns), which pages they read, and what they do before they buy, without cookies and without a banner. The two tools do different jobs and run fine side by side: Shopware Analytics tells you what happens in your shop, MetriXs tells you what leads up to it.
What the plugin does
MX Cookieless Analytics is the official MetriXs plugin for Shopware 6, open source on GitHub. Upload the ZIP in your administration, and after a one-minute setup it adds the MetriXs tracker to every page and verifies your shop automatically. Works on self-hosted Shopware 6.5 and 6.6.
Tracking is strictly opt-in. Installing the plugin loads nothing and sends nothing: the tracker only starts after you paste your site API key, save the settings, and enable tracking. You can pause it at any time with one click.
The tracker is injected into the head of every storefront page and loaded asynchronously, so it plays nicely with Shopware HTTP caching and full-page cache setups. The plugin flushes the cache when you connect it, so the script appears immediately.

Why MetriXs fits Shopware shops
No cookie banner, ever
No cookies means no consent banner, no consent manager, and no "reject all" losses in your data. The plugin is GDPR friendly by architecture, not by configuration.
Made in Europe, for German shops
MetriXs is EU-hosted with data in Germany. For Shopware merchants serving DACH customers, that means EU data residency without workarounds.
Cache friendly, admin-native
Upload the ZIP in your administration like any other extension. The tracker works alongside the HTTP cache, and verification runs automatically when you save the plugin settings.
How to set up MetriXs on Shopware
From plugin upload to live dashboard takes about five minutes. No theme files, no consent banner.
01
Create your MetriXs account
Sign up at app.metrixs.eu and add your shop. The free plan covers 5k pageviews/mo, no credit card.
02
Upload the plugin
Download the ZIP from GitHub releases and upload it under Extensions → My extensions in your Shopware administration. Nothing is loaded or sent yet.
03
Connect and verify
Paste your site API key (Settings → Sites → API keys) into the plugin settings and save. Verification is automatic. Turn on Enable tracking.
04
Check your Realtime view
Open your shop in an incognito window and browse a few pages; pageviews should appear in the dashboard within seconds.
What about other Shopware analytics options?
Most Shopware analytics setups are a manual Google Analytics snippet pasted into the theme or loaded through a tag manager, with the cookie banner and consent manager that come with it. MX Cookieless Analytics is the official hosted option with the least overhead: cookieless by design, verified automatically from the administration, cache-aware injection, and all data in the EU.

- Is the MetriXs Shopware plugin free?
- Yes, the plugin is free and open source. MetriXs the service has a free-forever plan (1 website, 5k pageviews/month, 1 month retention) with no credit card. Paid plans with longer retention, more sites, and team features start at €6/month.
- Why not just use Shopware Analytics?
- Use both, for different jobs. Shopware Analytics is strong on order-based reporting (sales, payment methods, discounts) from your own database, but its storefront metrics depend on cookies, so visitors who reject the banner are missing from your numbers, and there are no reports for traffic sources, referrers, campaigns, devices or visitor geography. MetriXs covers exactly that: cookieless, consent-free tracking of sources and visitor behavior, hosted in the EU. They run fine side by side.
- Does MetriXs conflict with Shopware Analytics?
- No. The tools measure different things: Shopware Analytics reads your orders, MetriXs reads your visitor traffic. Both can be active at the same time; the MetriXs tracker is a single small script that does not touch Shopware's cookies or its analytics extension.
- Do I still need a cookie banner?
- No. MetriXs sets no cookies and stores no personal data or persistent identifiers, so no consent is required under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR cookie rules. If you remove Google Analytics and other cookie-setting scripts, the banner can go entirely.
- Does the plugin track visitors by default?
- No, and that is deliberate. Installing the plugin loads nothing and sends nothing. Tracking starts only after you paste your API key, the shop is verified, and you enable tracking in the settings. You can pause it any time with one click.
- Does it work with Shopware Cloud?
- Not yet. The plugin uses the self-hosted plugin system (Shopware 6.5 and 6.6). Shopware Cloud shops use a separate "app" system, which is a different integration we may add later. Self-hosted shops are fully covered.
- Does it work with Shopware caching?
- Yes. The tracker is a single small script served from app.metrixs.eu, injected into the page head and loaded with defer. It works alongside Shopware HTTP caching and full-page cache setups, and the plugin flushes the cache when you connect it so the script appears immediately.
